January 07, 2017 // Rayong, Thailand
We got to the hotel late the night before. We got a ride from one of Xing Heng's now wife's friend's boyfriend. He was at the airport to pick up his girlfriend who happened to be on the same flight from Chiang Mai to Rayong as us. It was about a 45-minute drive to our hotel, Kantary Bay Hotel Rayong. It's a very nice hotel located on the beach where the crashing waves can be heard from our room.
We woke up around 5:30am to get ready for Xing Heng's morning ceremony. Hotel breakfast was bomb (aka delicious). As usual, we tried to eat as many things as possible, given that it was an all-you-can-eat with Thai food and some western-style breakfast foods like eggs, sausages, and bacon.
A van was to pick us up at the hotel at 6:45am but it was late. It then went to another hotel to pick up some others before heading to Nisa's family's house for the morning ceremony. One thing about roads in Thailand, I noticed, is that there are long stretches of road, without openings to get onto cross streets, before you can make a turn to the other side of the road to your destination. You'll have to pass your destination, find an exit to get onto the other side of the road, then drive back where you were (except now on the other side of the road) to be able to turn into the perpendicular street.
Nisa and Xing Heng's wedding, here we come!
